A pair of 19th Century Os de Mouton French Oak Armchairs.  A very well made high quality pair, having the right proportions and form with square pegged joints.

Made from French oak, these have a wonderful warm tone, a decorative pair that could work in most rooms.  Very comfortable sturdy upright chairs, the chairs are in excellent condition, original coil sprung seat, new webbed back with original stuffing.  The chairs have been stripped of their original upholstery and are finished in Calico, ready for new upholstery.

Each armchair features a tall, slightly slanted camelback, connected to two large scrolling arms resting on curving supports.

Os de mouton (Sheep Bone) chairs became popular during the 17th century, when grand dining room châteaux were adorned with lavish furniture. Their stature and shapely legs give them a classic, timeless appearance and elegance that is uniquely French.
